Eligibility requirements for Konkan Board MHADA Lottery 2021

A few days ago, the Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority (MHADA) released the schedule for thelottery of low-cost flats in the areas that are under the jurisdiction of the Konkan Housing Board. If you are keen on buying one of them, know whether or not you are eligible to apply in terms of the age and other criteria.

Eligibility requirements

1. Age criteria: The applicant must be above 18 years of age as on the date of applying.

2. Owning a home: Neither the applicant nor his/her spouse or minor children should be owning a flat or any type of house or a residential plot or land or hold a residential plot on hire purchase or on a rental basis from MHADA. Secondly,  neither the applicant nor his/her spouse or minor children should be owning a house or flat or residential plot of land or membership of any registered or proposed Cooperative Housing Society in the name of the applicant/spouse's name within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation or Municipal Council where the applicant are seeking to fill up the application.

3. Domicile: The applicant must have a Domicile Certificate as proof that he/she has stayed for a continuous period of 15 years within the limits of the State of Maharashtra within the last 20 years (note that those who come within the reservation category of Central Government employees are exempt to this rule).

4. Family income: The applicant's family's average monthly income should be as per the following categories-
(a) Higher Income Group (HIG): Rs. 75,001 and above
(b) Middle Income Group (MIG): Rs. 50,001 to Rs. 75,000/-
(c) Lower Income Group (LIG): Rs.25,001/- to Rs. 50,000/-
(d) Economically Weaker Section (EWS): up to Rs. 25,000/-

Note: The monthly income referred to includes that of the applicant and spouse derived from employment or trade or business or any source that is considered as a source of livelihood  and includes bonus. However, it does not include allowances like HRA, medical allowances, car allowance, travel allowances, etc. that are reimbursable. 

5. Bank account: The applicant must have a valid Savings Bank account and should not submit another person's Bank Account number.
