My own experience
Excellently organized. There was absolutely no problem at all. The staff are all very efficient. The seating area is on the terrace, but it is covered and there are plenty of fans to keep you cool. One staff was present to give you the form and explain how to fill it. He will check the form after you fill it and also the documentary proofs you brought. I had taken only the originals so had to go and get photocopies!! In case you forget too: there is a photocopy center on the ground floor of Shiv Sena Bhavan, just 5 mins. walk away.
I had to wait for about 45mins only. Then went inside into an air-conditioned room where 3 staff were present to do the iris scan, biometric scan, and fill in your details on the computer. It was extremely efficient and the whole process was done smoothly. It was quick, but there was no haste of any kind and all details were thoroughly re-checked with me before the final submit. You need to pay attention to the screen in front of you to check that the details being entered are correct.
I was really impressed! It was far better than waiting for 4-5 hours in an endless queue at a local post office or a municipal school, which was the experience I had heard about from others and which had deterred me from going to register in the first place.
You can go in the morning itself before the heat sets in. Be there by 9.15a.m. so that you get time to fill in the form. The registration begins at 10a.m. There is a lunch break and you can also go at 1.45 in the afternoon for the next session, which continues till 5p.m.
Tip: Do take water to drink! Also, it is advisable to have your breakfast and go or go later after lunch. Some residents in my area had to wait for 2 hours before their turn came. There is a separate queue for members of the Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
All in all, it was a smooth experience and my many thanks to this center for organizing the UID enrollment. For once, something to do with Govt. paperwork was hassle-free!!
