The 2012 Mumbai civic elections had a total of 227 seats up for grabs. Some of the major political parties who contested are:

- BJP= 63 seats
- RPI(A)= 29 seats
- MNS= 208 seats
- NCP= 58 seats
- Congress= 169 seats
- Mumbai: 44%-45%
- Thane: 52%
- Ulhasnagar: 43%
- Nashik: 58%
- Solapur: 58%
- Nagpur: 55%
- Pune: 53%
- Amravati: 58%
- Akola: 57%
- Pimpri-Chinchwad: 56%
