Popular Ganapati pandals in Mumbai

During the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, there are numerous pandals spread across Mumbai. This blog post gives a list of some of the most popular Ganapati pandals locations in Mumbai.

Lalbaug Ganapati pandal 
Lalbaugcha Raja (King of Lalbaug) is the most popular Ganapati pandal in Mumbai. It is believed that the wishes ones asks for here is granted by Lord Ganesha. 

There are 2 queues: (1) Navas Queue which has the following route:- Dinshaw Petit Lane - G.D. Ambekar Marg - Dr. Vijay Walimbe Road, Parel Village - Guru Rani Chowk, Parel. To reach here one can come from Lower Parel Station on Western Line and Curry Road Station on Central Line. (2) Mukh Darshan Queue which has the following route:- Chhatrapati Shivaji Ground (Garam Khada) – Dr.B.A. Road - Dattaram Lad Marg - T.B. Kadam Marg - Additional C.P. office - Dr. B.A. Road - Rani Baug on Central Line.

How to reach Lalbaugcha Raja pandal: nearest railway stations are Chinchpokali and Byculla Stations. If you wish to be in the Mukh Darshan queue, you can get off at Cotton Green railway station too.

Matunga Ganapati pandal 
The GSB Seva Mandal installs the richest Ganapati idol annually, with the idol being adorned with over 60kgs of gold & over 200kgs of silver ornaments. The puja is performed in Sanskrit.

How to reach: you can get off at Wadala railway station or at Dadar railway station. The pandal is located near King’s Circle, Matunga.

Dadarcha Raja Ganapati pandal 
The King of Dadar is the idol visited by many devotees residing in Central Mumbai. It is installed by the Vitthalwadi Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal.

How to reach: it is close to Dadar Railway station.

Naigaon Ganapati pandal 
Also located in Dadar, but on the East side, it is installed by the Spring Mill Compound Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. Popularly known as Naigaoncha Raja.

How to reach: nearest railway station is Dadr. It is located in the Spring Mills compound, Dadar (E).

Irla Market Ganapati pandal 
The Ganesh idol here has been installed by the Irla Mitra Mandal. Number of days: 11

How to reach: Take a bus from Andheri station / from Vile Parle station to Irla market.

Kanjur Marg Ganapati pandal 
The main Ganapati idol in the Mulund-Ghatkopar area is installed by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Krida Mandal at Kanjur Marg.

How to reach: The pandal is located just outside the Kanjur Marg West station.

Tardeo Ganapati pandal 
The Ganapati idol is installed at the Tardeo Police Camp.

How to reach: The pandal is walking distance from the Mumbai Central station. Bus routes: 91, 93, 124, 130.

Girgaon Ganapati pandal: The Girgaoncha Raja idol is installed by the Nikadwari Lane Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. The idol is made from clay.

How to reach: nearest railway stations are Charni Road and Grant Road stations. The pandal is located at Nikadwari Lane, Girgaon.
