2015 Durga Puja Pandal Shivaji Park Mumbai images

As in past years, on the occasion of Dussehra festivities, the traditions of Durga puja can be seen in all its splendor at the Bengal Club's pandal at Shivaji Park, Mumbai.

The entrance is dominated by a huge sculptural creation of Lord Shiva with the Kailash moumtains forming the backdrop.

In front of Lord Shiva are the 9 incarnations of the Devi, each depicted traditionally seated on a mount.

This year, photographs of temples in Kolkata have been displayed as part of the pandal theme. Suspended from the ceiling are various weapons of Goddess Durga.

The Goddess Herself is bedecked in a stunning gold traditional Banarasi saree, with similar garments adorning the other deities standing on either side: Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati and Karthikeya.

The exhibition stalls are very much there, though seemed like fewer in number, as also food stalls serving traditional Bengali cuisine.

You should visit soon, as on the last 2 days of Ashtami and Navami, there are huge throngs of devotees. However, note that the traditional bhog will be served only on the last 2 days, and the Kumari puja will be performed on the last day. On these days you will also likely get a glimpse of the traditional dance with incense burned in clay lamps, known as Dhunuchi Naach.
